"Olly-olly-oxen-free"

On the side A of the second cassette Hannah talks about the third reason why she commits suicide.

Hannah is not the only new pupil at her school. Two other students, Jessica Davis and Alex Standall, are also new. The guidance counselor of Jessica and Hannah decides that the two girls should meet to become friends. At first both of them are not very happy about that, but in spite of their first distrust they get along well with each other. After the meeting at school they go to a café which is called Monet´s Garden Café & Coffeehouse. There they talk to each other, but after a while they notice  a boy staring at them. They are not sure who of them attracts the attention, so Jessica asks him. The boy is embarrassed  and tells that he was also new at school. The girls give him the permission to take part in the conversation. They talk for hours and are thankful for not being completely alone at their first day of school.
The next weeks they meet regulary at the café and invent special rituals for their meetings. They listen to the problems and helped each other through their first weeks of school.
Then Alex does not go to the café anymore. And afterwards also Jessica stops going to their meetingpoint. They are still nice to each other, but they never really talk to each other anymore.
One day Jessic wants to talk with Hannah. She has seen the WHO´S HOT/ WHO´S NOT list of Alex and thinks, like many other students, that Hannah has an affair with him. The rumors make Jessica very angry because she has been in a relationship with Alex. Hannah tries to explain that she does not see Alex out of school and that Alex just put her name by reason of revenge on the list , but Jessica does not believe her. She hurts Hannah and it left a tiny scar over her eyebrow.

While Clay listens to the cassette he still sits in front of the Blue Spot Liquor. He thinks about his teacher Mr.Porter and whether he is also one of the thirteen reasons why. And because he follows the map, that Hannah gave him, he decides to take the city bus to the Monet´s Garden Café & Coffeehouse. And during Hannah talks about the rumors about Alex and her, Clay also remembers the rumors.  



My opinion:
If I went to a new school I would be thankful for every person that helps me to get through the first weeks of school. Luckily Hannah had these persons. I understand that they never meant to be friends because at first it was just important not being alone. I think it is very important to have the option to talk about your problems with people that are in a similar age because you are not able to talk about everything with your parents or your teacher.
And in my opinion it is not that bad that Jessica and Alex stopped going to the café, because everybody made friends there and like Hannah said: they were not friends.
But I think it is not okay that Jessica hurts Hannah. Of course a break up is never easy and those rumors did not make it any better, but even if you respect these circumstances Jessica was still not allowed to do this. Because at one hand the rumors were not true and on the other hand Jessica should be mad at Alex, because he wrote the list.
